The National Christian Foundation (NCF) was founded in 1982 to help simplify the process of charitable giving. Over the years, the foundation continually adapted to meet donors’ changing needs. They wanted to make giving so easy that everyone would want to do it.
Transforming the giving experience
That’s why they decided to revamp their online donor portal in 2014. NCF’s Donor Engagement and Technology Consultant, Jason Rice, envisioned a robust new donor portal to manage grants, contributions, funds and user profiles.
NCF had been using Salesforce for internal processes for nine years, and while they enjoyed Salesforce’s powerful data-management capabilities, Jason and his team struggled with the limitations of its native user interface.

On top of that, NCF’s research showed that donors and back-office users wanted many features that couldn’t be delivered using only Salesforce or the company's legacy enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.
After researching their options, NCF decided to use Skuid’s user experience platform to extend Salesforce’s functionality. Jason was able to leverage their Salesforce Portal with Skuid in ways that had once been impossible.

Meeting every need
With NCF’s new portal for online giving, visitors can donate from the online dashboard, receive a tax deduction at the time of the gift and recommend grants to their favorite charities.
Donors can also set annual or lifetime donation goals and monitor their progress with compelling graphs. Donors can now view detailed information about their contributions and granting activities. With Skuid behind the scenes, financial data is pushed and pulled to and from NCF’s legacy ERP system to immediately update information as donors make changes.

We are able to respond to our givers’ needs with a much shorter life cycle than anything we have used in the past.”
Reaping the benefits
The NCF solution went live in late 2014 and since then, the site has yielded $1.2 billion in grants to charities and 1,500 new online funds. The same year, NCF was ranked the 9th largest nonprofit in the country.
