Data is gold, and databases are the new goldmines.Companies across industries gather all kinds of data to maintain and optimize their day-to-day operations. If you can imagine it, someone is collecting it, everything from seemingly harmless information that’s incredibly valuable to advertisers, like your favorite clothing brands, to deeply intimate data like medical history and your credit score. The more valuable something is, the more vulnerable it is, too.
We live in an age of data breaches that affect customers by the millions, T-Mobile just announced one last week. People are starting to ask questions about what data they provide and who has access to it, and sometimes they don’t like the answers. The need for constant data vigilance is part of the reason why 80% of the world’s data is not on the internet or the cloud.
It’s stored on private servers in enterprises around the globe. Security-conscious organizations need to trust that the priceless data they’ve gathered can’t be accessed by anyone without explicit permissions to do so, and only for specific, pre-approved purposes. This is essential for any industry with strict data policies, such as:
- financial services
- banking
- insurance
- healthcare
- retail and CPG
- legal
- government
Problem is, these super-strict data security policies can bring innovation to a crawl, eventually eroding employee and customer experiences. Each new technology that’s introduced must be thoroughly vetted, and if it can’t meet strict security policies, it’s off the table. Enterprise users are left dealing with dated, albeit secure, applications that don’t help them get their jobs done effectively.
Organizations need a way to protect private, valuable, and sensitive information while still being able to access it themselves for the benefit of their customers. After all, what’s the point of gathering all that data if you can’t provide vital insights to the right person, in the right place, at the right time?
Spark a data revolution.
With the new Skuid Private Data Service (PDS), organizations can keep their on-premise data secure without affecting their ability to innovate quickly.
With Skuid, you can already leverage one or all of your data sources, cloud and on-prem, within a single user interface to create use case applications, dashboards, portals, and native mobile experiences.
Now, with Skuid PDS, you can securely connect to your data without it ever leaving your firewall, so that you can design and deploy engaging, data-rich applications that meet real business needs.
Skuid PDS securely authenticates and accesses select data within your private network, showing only the discrete data required by a Skuid user to complete a specific data-driven task within a Skuid app.
Skuid PDS provides an API gateway (a virtual appliance) for Skuid apps to connect to data without the data ever leaving your infrastructure, whether it’s on-premises or within a secured data server elsewhere, such as a virtual private cloud (VPC).
Once installed and configured, Skuid PDS can be used to build Skuid data sources, and those data sources can be used within fully-customized Skuid apps. Only properly authenticated users, who are on the same network behind a firewall or VPN, will then see that data within their organization's Skuid apps.
Enterprises can now use massive data stores (Data Lakes) to their full potential, without their InfoSec team worrying about data flowing over the open internet or in the public cloud.
Companies can unlock the potential of employees and partners with data tailored to their specific needs. Are you ready to join other innovative organizations? Learn more about Skuid’s Private Data Service here.
