Challenge

With Skuid, Curve crafted a technology solution to give clients even more control over their finances, and their livelihoods.

The Australia-based company assists organizations with the placement and management of surplus funds, offering services such as term deposits, fixed interest securities, investment management, and more.

Curve Securities focuses on giving clients the ability to review their portfolios, visualize simple return metrics, and then compare how they’re tracking against their investment policy to ensure compliance.

Andrew Murray, the CEO of Curve Securities, wanted to expand and deepen those capabilities. He needed a convenient way for Curve’s customers to gain more robust insights into their finances, so that they could make more informed choices going forward.

To do that, Andrew needed to go back in time.

Specifically, he wanted customers to have the ability to enter a past date into the system they used to track finances, and then pull records to see what their portfolio would look like now, had they made different financial choices in the past.

Using Skuid, Curve was able to consolidate about 40 different reports and dashboards into a single Skuid page.

Administrators can now use dynamic Skuid filters and tables instead of jumping between multiple reports each day.Salespeople can now access key metrics and client information quickly and easily, without running reports or clicking through a lot of dashboards. Clients can easily engage and access truly impactful insights.

Solution

Curve’s initial success hinged on the Skuid wizard component.

With the Skuid wizard, you can include dynamically rendered, multi-step processes that move users through app screens in a specified order. Users can execute complex business processes in a straightforward, step-by-step fashion, without getting confused or overwhelmed.

Andrew and his team partnered with Skuid solutions engineers to make it easy for Curve’s clients to get exactly the information they need to see, when they need to see it.

On the administrative side, Curve was able to consolidate about 40 different reports and dashboards into a single Skuid page. Administrators no longer have to jump between multiple reports each day. Replacing the reports with dynamic Skuid filters and tables resulted in significant time savings.

On the sales side, salespeople used to have to run a report or click through a lot of dashboards to view important metrics on revenue, client tracking, client deposits, holdings by credit rating, and more. Now, with a redesigned account view page built with Skuid, they can access client information quickly and easily.

Results

Developing the new solution, says Skuid solutions engineer Don Souza, took only a few weeks. If Curve hadn’t gone with Skuid, it would have taken the company several months, and likely a six-digit figure to get a comparable solution.

“The best part with Skuid was that it was really easy to combine different information, get it all into one place, and just give the users the numbers they needed to see in an engaging way,” Andrew says. “The visualization is fantastic.”

Another big benefit, Andrew says, is that his team can make updates to the application themselves, without having to call in outside resources to make a change. When clients kept requesting the ability to upload documents into the system, for example, Curve was able to roll out the new feature in just one week using the Skuid file upload component.

In another case, the company had a situation where 23 of their clients experienced credit rating downgrades all at once—which meant that investments no longer complied with clients’ portfolios in Curve’s system. The original application could not account for changes in credit ratings and would need to be rebuilt—something that would usually take several weeks and additional development resources to complete. But with Skuid, it was no sweat. In just a day and a half, Curve redesigned the solution to make it work for the new scenario.

“It’s allowed us to keep up with competitors and have a community, a platform, that clients can easily engage with and where they can access truly impactful insights,” Andrew says.
