The Skuid Community is a place to connect with Skuid builders, ask questions, share ideas, and help others. To enhance that experience, we migrated our Community platform to Discourse in July. Since then, we’ve been making adjustments to optimize the experience for everyone in the community.
We’re thrilled to see a surge in engagement as new and existing members settle into this improved forum. With over 150 posts since the transition, we’re seeing users not only ask questions, but help others and share amazing ideas (Psssst…we notice and appreciate you 😉)!
That said, I’ll discuss why we upgraded, how you can participate in the new platform, and what’s on the horizon for the Skuid Community.
A better experience for you
The new platform addresses some common user pain points and improves the overall experience, too. Here’s what I mean:
- The search engine is powerful.
- Developer plugins and components will help the ecosystem scale as it grows.
- You can access the platform via iOS and Android, too.
- You can see a live preview when creating or editing a post.
- The responsive and organized design Discourse offers makes reading long discussions easier.
Ultimately, Discourse helps enhance post quality. No one likes to repeat the same questions or answers, and this platform steers everyone to the right places.
For instance, when a user creates a new topic, they’ll see related posts based off of the keywords in the title so they can research existing discussions rather than creating a new one. This will help us reduce redundant posts, allowing for more unique, high-quality discussions.
How to recover your old account
In order to sign in and reset your password, go here and use the same email account you used with the previous Skuid Community forum.
After you click Log In, you’ll need to click I forgot my password in the modal and the system will send a reset password email to your registered email address.
What to look forward to in the Skuid Community
Right now we’re redefining the gamification system to be more fun and engaging. We’ll organize users based on their previous ranks into what Discourse calls its trust system. You’ll have the opportunity to earn custom badges based on your level, backed by unique incentives that will better serve you and the apps you’re building.
Plus, everyone in the community will have a chance to win amazing prizes, swag, and more!
If you haven't joined the community yet, go here and click the Sign up button on the top right to start engaging with other Skuid builders!
